Where it started
Streamtunnel comes from one of the founders of Unblockr Ltd, which has been running for ten years.
When it came to the next chapter, there were two options: redevelop Unblockr, or start fresh with current technology. We started fresh. Streamtunnel is the result.
The problem I kept hitting
I come from a DevOps background. Again and again I needed to reach a machine that wasn’t in front of me: a customer’s server, or the family PC when someone needed a hand with something.
Or I just wanted to watch my own Plex library on a random hotel smart TV, a long way from home. Or do my online banking from my home PC’s connection. Or watch my favourite TV show on UK catch-up while I was away.
Every one of those needed a different tool.
Two tools I love
I love Mullvad. It’s privacy done right, and they’ve proven themselves time and time again. They represent trust.
I love Tailscale. Your own machines find each other wherever they are, without fighting the router.
I wanted both in one application, with the stability Unblockr has earned over ten years.
One app, kept simple
So Streamtunnel is one app: Unblockr’s stability, Mullvad’s privacy and Tailscale’s networking, made as simple as possible.
Four words are your account. One line installs the agent on a machine you own, and a scan in the app adds it. It looks the same wherever it’s installed.
